The Hey Sis Project recently brought the community together for a powerful day of connection, movement, and purpose, proudly supporting the McGrath Foundation.
Led by founder Asha Munodawafa, the fundraiser was more than just a tennis event, it was a celebration of strength, sisterhood, and giving back.
A Day of Energy, Empowerment & Community
The event featured a vibrant mix of activities designed to bring people together while raising awareness for cancer support services.
The day kicked off with a Ladies & Girls Cardio Tennis Morning, where participants enjoyed:
- High-energy tennis sessions
- Leadership and empowerment activities
- Music, raffles, and light refreshments
- A sea of pink to honour the cause
The afternoon continued with a Mixed Doubles Community Event, welcoming players of all ages and skill levels. The courts were filled with laughter, friendly competition, and a shared commitment to making a difference.
A Milestone Moment
Adding to the excitement of the day, the event also became a special milestone for The Hey Sis Project. Representatives from Tennis Australia were present to document Asha’s story and the journey behind the movement.
This opportunity marked a powerful recognition of the impact The Hey Sis Project is making not only in empowering young women, but also in using sport as a platform for leadership, inclusion, and change. Being able to share this story on a national level reflects just how far the initiative has come.
Why It Matters
This fundraiser supports the incredible work of the McGrath Foundation, which ensures that individuals and families facing cancer receive free care from McGrath Cancer Care Nurses. These nurses provide not only clinical expertise, but also emotional and psychosocial support throughout diagnosis and treatment.
For Asha and The Hey Sis Project, this mission aligns deeply with their goal: empowering young women while building strong, supportive communities.
More Than Just a Fundraiser
What made this event truly special was the atmosphere. It wasn’t just about raising money, it was about:
- Creating safe, uplifting spaces for young women
- Encouraging confidence through sport and leadership
- Bringing families and communities together
- Showing the power of collective impact
This is what The Hey Sis Project stands for connection, empowerment, and purpose-driven action.
Looking Ahead
With continued community support, initiatives like this will keep growing reaching more young women, raising more awareness, and making an even bigger impact.
Because when women support women, incredible things happen.
